NICU Blankies

I over the passed 3 months in an attempt to use up some stash pastel and baby yarns made some afghans and booties and caps.  My SIL ( EX) had a baby girl last Febuary , baby Olivia wasn't due until June, she was a Micro Preemie just over a pound. My SIL also works as a Nurse in a NICU in NYS.

This is for Miss Olivia. I nice soft carriage blanket done in pink and white shells.

After I finally finished the blanket I was working on for Olivia I decided to make a bunch of things for the NICU . Today I was weaving in ends of the afghans. I am about to start o n the booties and caps as well and get everything all packaged up to mail up North.

I found a few of my patterns on Bevs Country Cottage. She has tons of patterns in both newborn and preemie sized.

Moogly CAL #2

Just finished my second Block.  Much easier then the first.

My First Crochet Challenge

I am finally doing a  Crochet Along ( CAL) Moogly on Ravelry has their 2016 CAL up and running. I completed my first block called Flame Square GO HERE . The stitches drove me crazy at first since I am not good at BP stitches. I can do FP no problem. Now however I can do BP in my sleep.

More Rain *Sigh*

Its Raining Again...*SIGH* Kinda makes me wanna crawl up in bed and pull the covers over my head. I used to love the rain when I was younger. Especially the summer rains, so warm and comforting, kicking up the water outta puddles. Now rainy days drag me down. I am trying to focus on my crafting and my exercise which is not going well ( I cant get back into the grove)

For my crafting this past week or 2 I decided to use my stash and make a stash buster blanket, of course I started making a baby blanket and thought I had enuff to do one....UMM UMMM. I had to go out and "BUY" more white and navy, and of course after that I found I had another skein of navy in my stash pile. *SIGH*
The blanket I am making is for a woman I work with. I volunteer 2 days a week in the kitchen at skool and Donna the aide in charge, her youngest is having her first child ( Donna is already a gramma), so I decided to surprise her with a blanket. It is done in *V* and *Shell* stitches. I also plan to make her booties. I am really liking this stitch. I found it online and I can really get into my Zen mode with it. I just let my fingers fly. I basically have it finished, just need to finish one round of white and navy, then it is weave in the ends and do a border. I don't like blankets without borders.

I also need to make a Mokume Gane bracelet for the skool finance officer. She saw one I made at the harvest fest but didn't buy it right away. When she returned it was sold. I decided to make her one for Christmas ( since she does not ride me too much about tuition when I fall behind).

Finally I got a request for some custom earrings. I need to get back to the craft store since I don't have the colors she wants ( earth tones). I also want to look at what I can make for my kids for Christmas. One good thing about making Jewelry is I can always rely on my stash for something for them esp. when cash is low. ( which seems to be all the time).

Update: Christmas

Well My youngest is 12 going on 22 or 2 depending , and she is getting into the jewelry, hair accessories, you name it, so beads, bangles, and baubles. I will be busy creating what I can before Christmas.
Meanwhile to keep myself in practice I have been practicing, my wire wrapping for making danglies , and also using up my yarns and making throws/lapghans.

Yesterday I whipped up a beaded ring, which took me half the freakin night....EASY? Not for me, I got 2 left thumbs.......While this looked easy....For me it was work. I am sure with the proper beads it will properly be easy. I used bicones, and they would not sit right, and the thread I was using, while it was beading thread, started to fray. Then I had problems with the needle sizes... Eventually I finished it.

My current work in progress, typical granny square throw.
Finished striped lapghan.
Blue Fiber Optic Swarovskis on a silver hoop with Silver fish hook.

My blue chandeliers. I wrapped the Dangles myself. I love these. Also Swarovski

Here is that ring.....

Whats New for August?

Wow it has been over a week. I am busy getting ready for back to school, as well as Harvest Fest. I decided to focus on a baby basket complete with Blanket, Homemade of course. Here is what I am working on....

Yea I know it isn't to crisp. I got the Pattern from Bev's Country Cottage. A wonderful lady who does lots of charity work and with a bunch of free patterns on her site. Here is the pattern for this blanket.
Although I have to admit mine don't look like this exactly, so I must of done something different w/o realizing...Ya know, one of those pleasant surprises? :-) But it still works. Worse comes to worse I have another blanket I made last yr some time that was packed away, I will use that if this turns out to be horrible,,,LOL.

On another note I saw a Carol Duvall episode recently that showed a clay artist making these bowls. I thought I could do that with polymer on a smaller scale, so I did. VIOLA!

Ok so they aren't the greatest, I mean you really can't put anything in them, but its a start. Maybe if I try to put some TLS in ? Hmmmmm, it is a thought. Well thats all for today. It has just been too hot to do anything really. I can't wait for school to start again just so I don't have to her them arguing and fighting no more....
